Modeled after this visionary peacemaker’s nine-day international intensive retreats, the Nonviolent Communication (NVC) Online Course invites you to join Marshall Rosenberg himself to learn the essentials of NVC—a transformative approach to resolving conflict and enhancing relationships that empowers us to express ourselves honestly and listen deeply, fostering mutual respect and understanding.
Through Nonviolent Communication, we learn to express ourselves with clarity and sincerity, and to receive others’ messages without judgment, paving the way for personal growth, peace, and a stronger sense of community. Because when we communicate with kindness, the possibilities for positive change are endless.
Nonviolent Communication involves practicing these key components: observing without evaluating, expressing feelings, identifying needs, and making requests. By focusing on these four pillars, we shift from patterns of communication that lead to misunderstanding and conflict to those that foster peace, empathy, integrity, and mutual support.

The Nonviolent Communication course is designed for anyone who wants to enhance their communication skills in personal and professional relationships. It’s ideal for those who are interested in learning how to resolve conflicts amicably, build deeper connections, and express themselves honestly and empathetically. Cultivating these skills will transform your approach to conversations, fostering more meaningful and positive interactions.
Previous students have come from all backgrounds, including: counseling and therapy, politics, education, organizational leadership, social change and social justice, spiritual seeking, and those looking to build their family and interpersonal relationships.
The techniques you’ll learn are designed to be easy to integrate into your everyday life. Whether it’s managing disagreements at work or enhancing communication with the people you love, you’ll learn how to navigate challenging conversations with empathy and clarity. It includes exercises and real-life scenarios, helping you practice mindful listening and effective expression of your needs.
The beauty of NVC is you learn the power of words and how to use them in even the most challenging circumstances. Marshall Rosenburg taught these universal techniques to promote clarity and empathy in managing any kind of disagreement—this would also apply to the comment section of a social media page. NVC is needed now more than ever with the evolving landscape of where we communicate and to assist us in transforming our language of violence, which is too often experienced online.
