Opening Gathering (Online)

Save the Date: Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 12pm ET/9am PT to 4pm ET/1pm PT

Our journey starts here. We will spend our first moments together grounding ourselves, introducing the course, setting our intentions for the months to come, holding a Q&A, and more. We’ll be exploring concepts of self-regulation and doing some practices together live to ease ourselves into this healing work. We will also discuss a road map of where we’re going and why, in order to set you up for success in realizing your intentions for these nine months.

Co-host Deb Dana will help us understand pathways to regulation, including the polyvagal perspective, which is key to the entire program. Jeffrey and Deb will also be joined by trauma therapist and somatics educator Karine Bell, who will be sharing a personal talk on her own healing path.

Our 4-Hour Opening Gathering will include…

  • Embarking on the Journey of Healing Trauma with Dr. Jeffrey Rutstein
  • Pathways to Regulation with Deb Dana
  • Q&A with Jeffrey Rutstein & Deb Dana
  • My Non-Linear Path to Healing with Karine Bell
  • Closing Session with Jeffrey Rutstein

Three trimesters of enriching, empowering content

Our opening trimester explores the importance of being able to self-regulate your body in the face of aggravating experiences large and small. Instead of being held hostage to the whims of an activated or traumatized nervous system, we will explore deeply experiential practices that aim to transform your body’s response so that you feel more in control of every situation.

The Experts

Peter A. Levine, PhD — February

Founder of Somatic Experiencing® trauma recovery

Deb Dana, LCSW — March

Clinician and author of The Polyvagal Theory in Therapy

Resmaa Menakem, MSW, LICSW, SEP — April

New York Times bestselling author and trauma specialist

Judith Blackstone, PhD — April

Author and founder of the Realization Process
Our second trimester explores trauma in relationships and how it impacts our ability to relate to ourselves and others. Because our bodies exist in one of two states—”protect” or “connect”—remaining in a “protect” state inhibits our ability to create deep, meaningful relationships.

The Experts

Deb Dana, LCSW — May

Clinician and author of The Polyvagal Theory in Therapy

Sará King, PhD — June

Neuroscientist, political and learning scientist, critical theorist, medical anthropologist, and social entrepreneur

Konda Mason — July

Social entrepreneur, activist, spiritual teacher, and cofounder/founding CEO of Impact Hub Oakland
Our final trimester encompasses healing those around us. As humans, we are constantly sending signals of safety or danger—and picking up on the signals of others. Therefore, in order to rise above the more defensive states of trauma, we must practice sending safer signals as we move toward collective healing.

The Experts

Arielle Schwartz, PhD — August

Clinical psychologist, EMDR and somatic therapist

Ruth King — September

Author, educator, and founder of Mindful of Race Institute

Thomas Hübl — October

Spiritual teacher, author, and founder of the Academy of Inner Science

We all hold the keys to our personal healing.

Jeffrey Rutstein, PsyD, CHT

Now it’s time to reflect upon our journey together, celebrate the progress we have made,  and focus on integrating the concepts of the curriculum into our everyday lives. Emphasizing the program’s actionable practices and self-regulation skills, this closing event marks a new beginning in calmer, more grounded living. Cohosted by Jeffrey Rutstein, Deb Dana, and john a. powell, this live online gathering will officially send participants into the world with the knowledge and confidence necessary to go forth on their healing journey.
