About Your Teacher
Acharya Shunya
Acharya Shunya is an internationally renowned mystic and a classically trained master of nondual Advaita, Ayurveda, and Yoga. The first female head of her 2000-year-old Vedic-Hindu spiritual lineage from India, Shunya facilitates authenticity, self-remembrance, and Divine Feminine pathways to awakening. She is founder of The Awakened Self Foundation with its international headquarters in California, and is the author of Ayurveda Lifestyle Wisdom, Sovereign Self, and Roar Like a Goddess.

Awaken Your Spiritual Power & Connect to the Many Expressions of the Goddess in You
Join this opening ceremony with Acharya Shunya, where you’ll connect to the sacred energy of the goddess, the Source that transforms us with her grace and wisdom. This will be held on Saturday, April 8, from 1–3 pm ET | 10 am–12 pm PT.
In this live gathering, you will:
- Connect with your higher self, or atman, setting sacred intentions for the course that activate your intuition and visioning—aligning you with the goddess.
- Discover the story of shakti: the nondual goddess and inherent spiritual power in humankind that lies behind each of the other archetypal models of the great goddess, who you’ll meet in the course.
- Receive the blessings of shakti—synchronicity, magic, awakening, and happiness—as you prepare for the deep shifts ahead.
- Learn to prepare emotionally and energetically for the Goddess Initiation and for the nurturing and love of the Divine Mother.
Follow in the footsteps of Goddess Durga, who takes on the form of the goddesses of courage, focus, and power to overcome obstacles. Each week you’ll meet for 90 minutes live on Thursdays from 8–9:30 pm ET | 5–6:30 pm PT.
You’ll meet and activate:
- Shailaputri, goddess of courage, who inhabits your root chakra and gives you strength to persevere despite challenges and limitations.
- Brahmacharini, goddess of self-discipline, who resides in your sacral chakra and gives you the willpower to work through heavy challenges.
- Chandraghanta, goddess of power, who lives in your solar plexus and gives you clear vision and the capacity to overcome unhealthy attachments.
Actualize your true Self, Goddess Lakshmi, the daughter of Durga, as she takes the form of three goddesses who bring you joy, love, creativity, and abundance. Each week you’ll meet for 90 minutes live on Thursdays from 8–9:30 pm ET | 5–6:30 pm PT.
You’ll meet and activate:
- Kushmanda, goddess of happiness, who inhabits your heart chakra and gives you the joyful ability to recreate the narrative of your life, letting new things emerge.
- Skandmata, goddess of self-love, who resides in your throat chakra and infuses you with a force that changes how you think, talk, and act toward yourself.
- Katyayini, goddess of creativity, who lives in your sixth chakra and illuminates your thinking, allowing your visions to manifest and come alive.
Acting as your guru, the Goddess Saraswati takes the form of three goddesses who help purify, restore, and give you access to your deepest spiritual gifts. Each week you’ll meet for 90 minutes live on Thursdays from 8–9:30 pm ET | 5–6:30 pm PT.
You’ll meet and activate:
- Kalaratri, goddess of great truth, who inhabits your crown chakra to still your mind and cut through delusions and illusions.
- Mahagouri, goddess of self-rejuvenation, who lives in your eighth chakra and blesses you for all your work, bringing renewal, grace, and flow.
- Siddhidatri, goddess of conscious manifestation, who resides in your ninth chakra and helps you realize your greatest purpose, talents, and wisdom.
Gathering together, you’ll celebrate your initiation into the Divine Feminine, take in the shifts you’ve undergone, and receive Shunya’s final blessings. This will be held Saturday, August 12, from 1–3 pm ET | 10 am–12 pm PT.
In this collective honoring ritual, you will:
- Reflect on the journey you’ve taken and the many ways your inner work in the program has spiritually charged your life.
- Share insights, dreams, inspirations, and the blessings of your rekindled and reclaimed Divine Feminine strength with your fellow participants.
- Celebrate with music, chanting, ceremony, and a special closing with Acharya Shunya.
Frequently Asked Questions
Seekers with prior experience of spiritual practice, including people with an interest in yoga, chant, or meditation, will find this program a powerful way to deepen their spiritual work. Those who feel drawn to the goddess in her many forms will also gain much from this program, which is taught by a lineage holder of an Advaitic (nondual Indian) tradition who honors the original Vedic tradition while teaching to the needs of modern seekers from all walks of life. While The Goddess Experience focuses on stories and energies associated with the goddess, we believe that everyone can benefit from the gifts of the Divine Feminine, and individuals of all gender identities are warmly welcome to enroll.
The program is 20 weeks long, and includes an opening circle, a closing ceremony, and three segments in between—six weeks each—one devoted to Durga, one to Lakshmi, and one to Saraswati.
In each segment, our first week will be an initiation into that goddess’ energies, followed in weeks two through four with sessions devoted to each of her three goddess subtypes. The fifth week is a special integration session and the sixth week will feature a “modern-day goddess”—a guest teacher who will share her own journey to embodying the goddess.
Our live opening circle is Saturday, April 8, from 1–3 pm ET | 10 am–noon PT. The 18 following sessions will be 90 minutes long and will be held live on Thursday evenings from 8–9:30 pm ET | 5 pm to 6:30 pm PT. Last, our closing session will be held Saturday, August 12, from 1–3 pm ET | 10 am–noon PT. All of the sessions will be available to watch on demand in your course library within 48 hours of their broadcast, and you can watch (or rewatch) them at your convenience.
Modern culture is dualistic, patriarchal, and hierarchical, which creates tensions, polarities, and traps that Acharya Shunya surfaces in her work. The goddess teachings in this course serve to challenge our underlying narratives, and have the potential to liberate each of us to follow a path that is fully and uniquely our own.
Your path can include both masculine and feminine qualities. Still, the time is ripe to focus on the power of the goddess—who has been overlooked for many centuries in almost all of human society. As you receive initiation into the Divine Feminine, you also receive a powerful invitation to co-create with the Source of your life, the womb of the entire universe, and alter your life for the better.

A Message from Acharya Shunya
All of us are seeking our spiritual identity, well-being, and purpose. To find this, we need to connect to a divine dimension where we receive strength and nourishment. But we have lost contact with the true Source of all power.
As a modern, educated, and accomplished woman, I still had times when I faced inequalities in my life, and inward challenges from self-diminishing, subconscious beliefs. But I saw that growing into my true self meant reclaiming that power I had unconsciously given away.
Thanks to the goddess stories I had learned years before from my grandfather, and our lineage of Vedic spiritual teaching, I did not remain trapped for long.
The Goddess Experience is an unfolding journey that we will make, following the goddess in different forms through all her stories—and deep as our own chakra system.
I did not have an ordinary encounter with these stories. They entered into my being and churned and swirled through me until my entire life, my existence, my heart, became the story. The goddess who was asleep in me awakened. And she is waiting to awaken in you, too!
The Goddess Experience is an initiation into the many manifestations of the goddess. It is an unfolding journey that we will make, following the goddess in different forms through all her stories—and deep as our own chakra system.
As Durga, in our first three chakras, she awakens our righteous power, rage, and courage to face the darkness inside and around us.
As Lakshmi, in our next three chakras, she reminds us that we’re entitled to pleasure and prosperity, and that love is a two-way street, not a self-sacrifice.
As Saraswati, in the upper three chakras, she shows us how to discern between what is not worthy of our energy, what is important for our soul to follow, and how to grow from pain every time we face a challenge.
