Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness

Elizabeth A. Stanley, PhD

In this presentation, she’ll explore how we can work with mindfulness and trauma in a beneficial way.

  • The “window of tolerance” as a key component for healing
  • Three key patterns of dysregulation and how to identify them

  • KenZekePhoenix says:

“I am enough…We are enough!”-Loved Justin Michael Williams and all the Summit presenters . What a gift.

  • M says:

Hello, first of all thank you so much for sharing this content. I myself had a chance to only view these last three videos in the Encore and would appreciate if you made the rest of them available to view maybe for some more time?

Anyway, I would like to respond that the videos have been great and helpful and confirmed a lot of my internal instincts and views, so thanks again for sharing, this is very appreciated.

I had an issue though, that while recovering from sexual traumas, I was doing great and was really trying to persuade myself that this will not happen again and that I am safe now. In fact this was not true, it did sadly happen again and all the strategies and rituals I had to help me stay focused and in the moment became a triggering thing for me. My window of functioning became so narrow that I don’t know how I made it and it certainly made me more vulnerable to this in a way. I knew I wasn’t ready to be social, but had no choice and it all became crashing. While I definitely believe that sense of safety is a vital thing for recovery, it is still hard to be in actual safety – this is the result of impunity and how society still considers these things ‘not that bad’ and so on. – I definitely agree with the mewe concept, thank you for sharing this.

Actually one of the most relevant things what stands in the way of the society being able to work as a whole is I believe narcissism – Dr. Ramani and many others are doing great work in tackling these issues – I recommend.
When dealing with these people, the uncertainty felt by them is different then just regular uncertainty of life options, I believe, as for all the gaslightning and the fact that the terror is always tailored to you no matter how many times you shift your life or believe that you have distanced yourself enough to be safe.. speaking from my experience with these people.

Thank you again and hopefully my comment will leave some meaningful impact here and maybe you would have some advice to share?

    Thanks again –

  • Anna says:

Wow. I have been a follower and learner of Dan’s for a long while now, but until recently could not get through the wheel of awareness meditation. Dan’s explanation of shame, and how we can thank it and understand it, has finally opened up this world of wholeness, and completeness, to me.

Prior to now, I did in fact feel terror, shame and a deep sadness when trying to do the meditation. I kept trying however and recently discovered that with my children, I could make it through. Tonight, post lecture, I have listened all the way on my own, in a calm and ‘normal’ state.

Thank you profoundly for making this teaching available to me for free today. I will continue to follow, listen, watch and read Dan’s material as long as I’m alive. (I frequently send people his way via YouTube, books, and so on!) I want him and you to know, how profoundly grateful I am for him, and for Sounds True for bringing us this teaching. I am in years as I write. Thank you.

  • Alex Stavitsky-Zeineddin says:

Excellent!!! Thank you! As a former conflict news reporter who spent time in Bosnia and other conflict zones in the 90’s, I am very interested and following up with Elizabeth! Thank you!

  • Cheryl C. says:

I’m overwhelmed by the amount of information. I would literally have to put the rest of my life on hold to take advantage of all you have to offer in the time frame that it is available. Still, I found the information thoughtful and well-presented. The conversational aspect was most appealing.

  • Frank Klaver says:

    Thank you Sounds true

  • Nadine says:

Thank you to Sounds True and the thoughtful presenters for sharing your knowledge. Also, for your heart felt desire to help others that manifested into what we have all been blessed to receive through The Trauma Skills Summit. I’m very grateful as I have benefited greatly from gaining a deeper understanding of how TRAUMA becomes manifested in the body and why it is important to feel as we heal as opposed to pushing our feelings down.
From my heart to your heart, thank you 🙂

  • Kathryn Bishop says:

  • Magdalena says:

Superb variety of presenters with their very different angles on trauma recovery and healing. Thank you so much. I agree with the last comment – please a little more time! I wasn’t able to catch Thomas Hubl whom I particularly wanted to hear. Can we have an encore of Day 10? That would be absolutely wonderful!

  • Beckey H says:

I am so grateful for the encore 72 hour presentations that I missed! I hope that more encores are opened for peoples 1st view or need to review again. With many of the comments I have read, I too needed to have time to process and reflect on some of the information before quickly moving on to the rest of the presentations. Would love to have these open for another week- PLEASE???

  • Diana Lynn says:

    For Daniel J. Siegel, M.D?
I shared under the wrong post before I realized I had hit the submit button. It begins with Hello Dan. I hope you can find it under the MMFT Post.

  • Diana Lynn says:

Thank you Dan. Your explanation was the best and it gives me more clarity. I’ve been doing the work of inner connection in my recovery of childhood trauma and a little confused as to where I go from here with all this loving kindness. (Laughing). I’ve been wandering as the quote says and I landed here. I’m so glad to hear you have a group. Fantastic.

  • Susan says:

Thanks so much for this summit, I learned so much and some valuable tools that I will take into my therapy practise.

  • Pam Roux says:

    Brilliant, thank you

  • reid smithdeal says:

Thank you for the learning opportunity. Some really great webinars. I did miss the last day, but truly enjoyed the other days.

  • APS says:

Thank you Sounds True for an amazing event. I got so much out of the wisdom and practical skills offered by the speakers. I’ve always been impressed by the quality of content offered by Sounds True in general, and its generosity too.

I second comments about the replays. I’m so used to full encore weekend replays of online events that I guess I thought I would be able to come back to the one day I had to skip because of time. But it was wonderful to have had the chance to watch these for free at all.

Perhaps you could limit future summits to a maximum of two talks per day? One would be ideal for me, but I understand that that may not be doable. Where there were three, I found myself struggling to keep up.

Also, I find videos that offer faster and slower speed options for the viewer to be tremendously helpful.

    Many thanks again, Sounds True!

  • Gulnora Bogdalova says:

Thank you so much for the chance to watch presentations for free. It is absolutely wonderful opportunity for people from developing countries to learn from such great experts. I deeply appreciate Jeffrey and all presenters for sharing their expertise! People make poor decisions in their life due to trauma and those decisions make an impact on them, their partners, relatives and their communities. You guys make the world a better place to live! Words can not capture my appreciation for your kindness!!!

  • Jamellia says:

I read they were available until the 31st 🙁 I wish I was able to access still. Hopefully I can save to buy the upgrade before it’s not available anymore! Thank you for this opportunity.

  • Teresa says:

Thank you Jeffrey! Unfortunately I missed Day 10 and now I am unable to access. Really appreciated the insights.

  • Kimberly Harris says:

I am so glad that I dedicated my time to investing in these presentations. They are not only a game changer for my foster care agency but a game changer for how I perceive my life. I have worked so hard to overcome the devastation of childhood and the trauma I endured. I have been working professionally in this world to get answers on how to help children with trauma and I finally feel as though there are some tested and true resources available for us. Thank you so much for allowing us the privileged of participating in this summit.

  • Judy says:

THANK YOU Jeffrey and all your wonderful speakers for your enlightening, supportive and loving share, guiding us to reconnect to our true spirit.
I LOVED this series and ALL the presenters contributed to the understanding and awareness of my journey, with tools to recover from trauma, transform and heal Self.
    Thank you again
    Judy

  • Nandagopal SVG says:

I also liked the presentation of Justin..

  • Nandagopal SVG says:

Thank you for this wonderful summit. Different perspectives, beautifully moderated by Jeffrey, giving a free hand to most of the presenters. Particularly enjoyed the talks of Dan, Annie, Rob, Ashley, Elizabeth, Lama and Pat.

  • deedee says:

The upgrade pricing is too expensive for people in India and I’m sure other people who are not well off financially. I too was disappointed that these talks were not openly available atleast until a week after the summit.

  • Wendy says:

Thank you so much for this summit – it was mind-blowingly informative, insightful and empowering There is so much I have learnt and so much of my thinking that has been confirmed. It has opened me up to going even further and deeper into this body of work. I am curious…

  • D says:

I am disappointed that all the talks were not available until 31st, as I thought I had a little time to catch up. Some of the presentations were overwhelmingly insightful and I needed to take a break for a couple of days, but now I cannot access days 8, 9 and 10 unless I upgrade, which is not feasible for me right now. The series was great so far though, I enjoyed what I did manage to see. I am grateful that it was free for a few days.

    • Jennifer says:

Im feeling the same way. I thought I could catch up on the last few days and did not realize the upgrade was necessary. What I had the chance to watch was great content though

    • V says:

I agree and also feel this way. As I was viewing them on my phone, I did not realise that there was more than 1 session a day. So I was catching up with them and ended up missing the remainder of the sessions. What I was able to watch was great though and I wish they had been available for a few more days.

    • Abigail Classey says:

I totally agree., especially as someone who suffers from real ptsd it’s impossible to digest all of the talks in that amount of time 🙁

  • Silvia Stenitzer says:

THANK YOU Jeffrey for your so beautiful, kind and most intelligent presence!
I LOVED this series and ALL the presenters contributed to the deepening of my own personal work as well as professional work.
    EXCELLENT and HOPEFUL!
    Thank you again,
I, too, purchased the upgrade and hope that i will get beyond technical challenges…
    Silvia

  • Janice Adams says:

This was an award winning series!
I purchased the upgrade, I am certain I will review the presentations over and over again.
    Great Offering!
